The prize winners are chosen by the jury in the closing concert on July 30th (Saturday) at 6 p.m. The organisers are delighted to announce that well-known artists, agents, conductors, critics and representatives of public life have decided to come to Husum in order to help determine who they feel are the best singers and pianists among the participants. For the first time we are deeply honored and grateful to welcome Roberta Alexander, one of the most significant sopranos of our time, as one of the members of the jury. The American soprano enjoys great international fame. Roberta Alexander appears regularly on the most important opera stages: Metropolitan Opera New York, Royal Opera House Covent Garden as well as in Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna, Zurich, Amsterdam and Venice. She sang Jenůfa in concerts with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle in Philadelphia and at Carnegie Hall in New York. She also regularly gives recitals, which testify to her extraordinary love for this most intimate of vocal music genres. For this reason, she has been invited to sing various recital series in Carnegie Hall, New York, the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, the Vienna Music Organization, Wigmore Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Vocal Arts Society in Washington D.C.

The concept of a master class with prizes awarded has proved to be successful and is held in high regard. Many former prize winners have been able to establish themselves internationally which has in turn increased the profile of the Husum Liedkunst.
